The EngD programs at the TU/e are two-year salaried programs in the field of technological design. EngD trainees all have a university engineering degree (MSc level) before they enrol. During these years, a EngD trainee is hired to work on a technological issue faced by a company. Next to this a dedicated curriculum is followed, which involves courses, interactive workshops and assignments, also in close operation with industrial partners. Their prior engineering education and the supplementary design schooling puts them in an excellent position to take on this assignment in consultation with the client. These students have looked at a problem with a different perspective on engineering, conceive out-of-the-box ideas and provide new solutions. Selection for these programmes is tough: typically candidates are from the top 25% graduates of technological universities. The programs leads to a Professional Doctorate in Engineering degree.
