Automotive Technology Master
The automotive industry is always on the move. New technologies succeed each other in rapid succession, especially when it comes to sustainable and smart mobility. Think of electric cars, using cleaner fuels or the many functionalities that make it safer and easier for us to drive. The traditional car has evolved into a controlled, high-tech system packed with mechanics, electronics, sensors and software, where the interaction between human and vehicle plays an important role. Due to this increasing complexity, highly educated engineers working in the modern high-tech automotive industry are in high demand, so long as they can think at systems level and make connections in this discipline.
Master Artificial Intelligence and Engineering Systems
The mutual impact of Artificial Intelligence & Engineering Systems (AI&ES) is leading to key new developments and a high degree of innovation at the interface between these areas. Solid knowledge in Artificial Intelligence as well a strong disciplinary foundation in Engineering Systems is key for future engineers in this area, highly demanded by industry as well as academia.
The master AI&ES is intended for students interested in studying, researching and combining AI methods and engineering techniques, with the aim of understanding, using and developing real-life systems for new products in a wide area of applications.
Master Industrial Design
In the Industrial Design master’s degree program, students will be empowered to achieve real change. They will look beyond the traditional considerations of form and function to integrate emerging technologies, data processing and interaction design.
Master Applied Physics
Applied physicists have a different view on the world around us. Physical phenomena turn into challenges, fascinating questions to investigate and analyze. But as an applied physicist you go one step further, by applying your knowledge of these phenomena in new technological developments.
The Master’s program in Applied Physics trains you to become Master of Science in Applied Physics. Students develop great expertise in the field of physical phenomena, novel experimental and computational tools, and leading technologies.
Electrical Engineering Master
An Electrical Engineer from the TU/e has enjoyed wide bachelor ranging from electromechanics and -magnetics to signal processing, integrated circuits and programming courses. This gives an Electrical Engineer the knowledge about mathematics, physics and computer systems needed to solve complicated problems. Electrical Engineering focuses on three societal themes:
‘The Connected World’, ‘Care and Cure’ and ‘Smart and Sustainable Society’. Every Master program of Electrical Engineering connects to one of these three themes, which means that a graduate student possesses a lot of knowledge of at least one of these societal themes.
Mechanical Engineering Master
Mechanical Engineering is one of the oldest and broadest technical disciplines we know, applied to contemporary technologies. It is all about devising, designing, building and improving technological solutions. These are often mechanical products, such as autonomous vehicles and mechanical metamaterials. In addition, a mechanical engineer also tests and constructs entire processes and systems, from large scale to below nanometer level. This is only possible with a good understanding of the latest technological developments and sufficient fundamental knowledge. Furthermore, being a mechanical engineer requires the ability to place your own discoveries in a societal context and the power to combine this with the ideas of future fellow engineers from other professional fields.
Systems and Control Master
In almost every technical domain, ranging from the automotive industry to engineering firms and research institutes, engineers are needed who have knowledge about complex, high-tech systems – and know how to operate them. They contribute to the development and control of – for example – industrial robotic arms, lithographic machines for the production of chips and electron microscopes that can see deep into the nano universe. The Dutch electricity grid is also operated and monitored by engineers with expertise in systems and control technology.
